We Want to Love Other People

I feel it,

in the silence between seconds,

the flash of your smile,

and the caricature of our friendship.

It licks my skin in the clockwork of her breathing;

When it is hard to tell where my hand starts and the shower ends.

I think you feel it too,

in the trips your mind takes &

to all the happiness we once shared,

And you wonder if we will

ever be forgiven,

for getting tired when the world hadn’t started running.

~we want to love other people~
