“Don’t look too far to see how good He is, just look at meeeeee”
(Nathaniel Bassey – This God is too Good)
When I started playing scrabble, I did not plan to go professional. It was (still is) my escape from stress. From winning the best graduating female athlete in my Uni, to parents asking me to coach their children, traveling across different states in Nigeria for tournaments (It’s a prayer point to be an international player from 2019…sponsors are welcome), interviewing with BBC on the relevance of scrabble, I am currently representing FCT (as a state) at the ongoing National Sport festival.
My DBE family said to me, “get used to greatness” but I am so nervous.
Jonah 2:8 was gotten from a memoir shared here (stories.ng) in 2017. Alongside Psalm 138, I think I applied them to E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G in 2018 and shared with so many people, as much as I can.
I was not exactly scared, just living life as it comes at me but I was not ‘settling’.
There was basically no plan of what to achieve or aspire to be for 2018 because I was still wallowing in the “wreck” of 2017 especially the last quarter and I was tired of being strong.
I was comfortable at my job but I was tired of it.
Another opportunity came and I accepted with open arms!!!!
But see yeah, when you want to compromise your standards, check again if it is worth it.
After checking, check again and ask questions.
I eventually ran from the opportunity I seized (lol) where I spent only one month.
Even though my birth month was May, I made my new year resolutions in June 2018.
“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth."
I had a big career switch, one of the daring things I did this year.
The same gave me an opportunity to travel to Ghana (my passport is open-yaay) and I wish I did earlier.
Jeremiah 33:3. God is the universe we speak of. God hears and answers, better when we do not expect the answers our own way.
This year, I am grateful for everyone I have built relationship with, many have not met me but we have a great bond. It is amazing.
It takes special grace to genuinely rejoice with those who are winning when all seems to be failing for you, who appear to be living the life you want, doing things you want. I can say I basked in that grace this year, the grace to recognize and understand that we are blessed differently and still being genuinely grateful.
Thankful for the challenges I encountered so far in 2018, anticipating of the joy it brings forth again.
2019, we are taking it by the neck, walking in faith than ever before and being highly optimistic.
Compliments of the season people, let’s do more together!
Happy sunday Febisola! Thank you for sharing. All the best in your competition and I hope Wellington Jighere is your friend. Much love.
