DAY 15: ABIGAIL

“My name is Abigail Anaba, I am a humanist.”

?Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine…
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good?

Let me start from the end. I had malaria a week ago… Or so I thought. I went to the hospital only to discover I was on the verge of a heart attack. The doctors battled for two days to take me out of harms way. When the doctors told me I was going to die, first thing I thought I had was I have not sent in my Year’s review on www.Stories.ng. Next thing was that I asked God if it was really his will that I die now, not for my sake but for the sake of the boys. He really can’t be that cruel. That I’m typing this means that God helped the doctors succeed and I’m still here.

Doctors’ Verdict: You need to lose weight, eat healthier, exercise and remain on drugs for the rest of your living days.
Amen!

? Oh freedom is mine… ?

May to November

It was all about SectorIV. Yes, I wrote a book. A book about love in time of war. It’s still like I dreamed it. The sales are not as good as I had hoped. Mhen, I’m still broke ???. But I have my three boys with me and we’ve never gone hungry ???. So, if you are reading this in Lagos head off to Patabah Books and pick your copy or check the book shop near you and help create a demand or order online from Ikasuwa.com or e-book from Amazon. (Wait, am I allowed to do this)

?It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life?

I made some new friends this year and lost some old ones. I have a girlfriend. That’s like a turning point. It’s almost impossible to believe. Last time I had a girlfriend was about 20 years ago. It still feels weird. Speaking of friendship, I learnt some lessons this year which connects directly to SectorIV. I learnt that God will always bring you a helper. When I decided to bring #SectorIV publicity online, I had a few friends that I believed would drive it. Alas, I was shocked, most of them were too busy with their own projects… But from nowhere, new people emerged and to them I owe everything successful about SectorIV (well almost everything) The indefatigable Joyce Odukoya and the tenacious Tunde Leye (these two people I’ve never met by the way) . Oh and Tony, of course Tony (who refuses to marry) was always there. Who will say the Lord does not work in mysterious ways? So mysterious that my friends were forced out to tweet and retweet (yes, I’m thinking about you right now Obinnaya and Ikenna). But my friends were always there with their prayers and moral support. Shallah to you all! Hay! How can I forget my celebrity friend Ikwerreman? The only China in Nigeria! One love! So what’s the lesson? Well, you don’t tell a proverb and then begin to explain it ?.

?It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good?

January to May

I was involved in a lot of projects bothering on agriculture. We held the first ever Nigeria Agriculture fair under then Minister of Agriculture,  Akinwunmni Adesina. I was privileged to interview him one on one a few times. I even entered Aso Rock part edited a script the then President was going to read. Hahaha.  Always working behind the scenes.  But in April,  I got into my head to take a step forward and write a book…

? Oh freedom is mine…?

“My name is Abigail Anaba,  I am a humanist.” Those will be the first words in my TEDex presentation.  Nope,  no one has invited me yet, but they will and I’ll be here to talk about it in my 2016. I will talk about humanism and why I prefer it to feminism. We shall also redefine humanism. I will give it a definition during my TEDex ?

“And this award goes to Abigail Anaba”.
I will hear those words.  Nope I have not entered for any awards yet but I know I will win at least one  award in 2016 and yes,  I will share in my 2016 review. ?

No,  I am not going to take anyone’s place. Neither am I planning to outshine anyone. As the Holy Book says,  “Star differs from star in glory”. So I’m going to shine my shine and others will shine their shine and when we all shine together, we shine brighter.

?It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good?

==========================

Thank God for sparing your life dear friend. Stress is a silent killer. I’ve started telling all my friends who run businesses, work for certain companies and live in certain cities to go for medical checks more regularly. Even a little visit to the dentist! We are no longer carefree teens and even if we were, it would be still help to be healthy.

See you next year Abigail, and the rest of you, see you in the evening 🙂

Yes!!! 2016 will be all that for you and more. Your imagination is refreshing and I look forward to celebrating all that with you. I remember your 2014 review and I can’t stop smiling at what your 2015 was. Sector IV was a really nice book too, and even I testify that you were helped by many fantastic people on line. It was lovely to see.

Here’s to more health conscious decisions in 2016 and more joy.
God will continually preserve you and your boys.
    Cheers to 2016!!!
